Cycles intersecting edge - cuts of prescribed sizes ( Extended abstract )

چکیده

We prove that every cubic bridgeless graph G contains a 2-factor which intersects all (minimal) edge-cuts of size 3 or 4. This generalizes an earlier result of the authors, namely that such a 2-factor exists provided that G is planar. As a further extension, we show that every graph contains a cycle (a union of edge-disjoint circuits) that intersects all edge-cuts of size 3 or 4. Motivated by this result, we introduce the concept of a coverable set of integers and discuss a number of questions, some of which are related to classical problems of graph theory such as Tutte's 4ow conjecture or the Dominating cycle conjecture.

Edge-cuts in Graphs

In an earlier paper [3], we studied cycles in graphs that intersect all edge-cuts of prescribed sizes. Passing to a more general setting, we examine the existence of T -joins in grafts that intersect all edge-cuts whose size is in a given set A ⊆ {1, 2, 3}. In particular, we characterize all the contractionminimal grafts admitting no T -joins that intersect all edge-cuts of size 1 and 2. We als...

{ 4 , 5 } is not coverable – a counterexample to Kaiser - Škrekovski conjecture

For a subset A of the set of positive integers, a graph G is called A-coverable if G has a cycle (a subgraph in which all vertex has even degree) which intersects all edge-cuts T in G with |T | ∈ A, and A is said to be coverable if all graph is A-coverable. As a possible approach to Dominating cycle conjecture, in [Cycles intersecting edge-cuts of prescribed sizes, SIAM J. Discrete Math. 22 (20...
